Whew! this Christmas/winter break flew by! The semester started for me last week and I'm so not into it yet. I mean, my body is still trying to get used to the waking up early, doing homework and all that shinnanigans. Christmas was really, really awesome this year.
The fam and me went down to San Antonio to visit some relatives.Actually, they are the closest to us, I mean in distance. I have to say though, I didn't really wanna go at all. But I did it for momma. I was only 16, errr, 17 when I last visited SA. So going back nearly 10yrs later, caused quit the stir.
I got alot of "So how old are you know?" and "Wow, my baby cousin is ordering a drink"
Yup. that's me.
Aside from drinking with my cousins, I also got to see the ranch. The ranch where my grandma used to live. The ranch where we went when we were kids. The house isn't there anymore, it was torn down 5 years ago. So now its just land..as you can see from the picture.
I had a wide range of emotions when we were there.. somber, excited, and curiosity. I had to take something back with me from the ranch. I found a brick that once was the sidewalk that led up to her front porch. I brought it back with me.
I was extremely happy that I went to San Antonio. I got back in touch with my roots down there. From hanging out with the cousins, to grandmas ranch, and seeing a great ancestor's tombstone. Next year, i just have to bring Jared to meet the relatives..my aunt already invited him!
I guess its always good to put yourself in check and get back to your roots.
